Gratitude
Location
The dams have been broken
and the water wears me down.
Swirling and spiraling,
lost in the sound,
I grab and grasp
for a fortunate foothold.
For the one I found,
I am forever grateful.
But my heart aches
from the pressure of the waves,
as I climbed higher to the clouds.
The waves grab at my shoes,
Trying to tear me back down.
As I almost gave in
to the raging waves,
a hand grabbed mine,
pulling me to the sky.
I see his face,
relief sinking in.
I know I am safe
sitting on a pillow of clouds
Alongside my best friend.
