THE LION'S HEART
Thousands of years you shone
Brightest in the beast’s breast
The heart of the lion
And forming a billion years before
The ancients knew you
Regulus, the little king
You are the harbinger of spring
And catch the tail of the moon
Riding her across the Milky Way
When Aristotle knew you
In those times you kept a secret
You did not beat as one but two
Or maybe four you clever prince
With brothers hidden by your side
But Capernicus knew you
And in the midnight January sky
I look with an unaided eye
Finding there your stellar host
And Regulus shining, ever and always
Men have known you
