Rogue Wave

I once was struck by a powerful wave

So now I fear the sea

And waters that seem to behave,

Still drown me in reluctancy.

Perhaps I fear for when I swim,

The water that appeared so still,

Will stir once more and rise so grim,

And blanket me with every frill.

Yet one day I may near the sea,

And make my way in bit by bit,

And never feel the great current

That struck me with my memorable hit.

But since I've felt the sea so brisk,

I fear to take a single risk.
