A Colorful Canvas

To write words on a page

with a single stroke of a pen

is similar to an artist,

who paints on their canvas

carefully with a mere paintbrush.

To simply rhyme in each line

isn’t sufficient to write poetry,

after all,

the quality of a painting isn’t

determined by its realism.

Lost in my train of thought,

the scattered pages of my journal

desperately waited for my attention—

urging for the composer to finish

the musical score.

My eyes squinted to recollect the sound

and rhythm that played in my mind.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

The pen in my hand waits impatiently

for a single touch—to connect with the paper.

I decided to close my mind and open my heart—

suddenly, I’m drenched in a splash of colors.

My hand moved from left to right swiftly,

and the paper no longer resembled a blank canvas.

Instead, it became a colorful canvas—a masterpiece.
