Winter Home
Love blooms on the lips
Of dew-fresh hearts
Nourished by breath given up
So that I may live
The joy of giving and receiving
Grows a trade of selfless compassion
Unprovoked, unmotivated
The words lap at the heart
Like the tide on a balmy night
We have given all we might
To thrive by the love of one another
My roots dig deep into you
When I reach for the heavens
And bloom in pride and ambition
I am anchored in you
And when the frozen winter comes
I will retreat in the warmth you provide
Only to flower again with you by my side
