Summer is what kids want,

Summer is what kids want, but don't need

We want summer because without school we feel freed

Yet as we continue to grow

And my tears begin to flow

I'll miss it so.

But when we become teens

Maybe later like in their tweens

We'll begin to miss school

And our dumb friends that were labeled cool

But it'll never happen again; that was high school.

Soon I'll be 16

So there isn't really much childhood left for me

One day I'll finish school and cover my box with a lid

I know now that I should never have hid

And how much I'll miss being a kid.
