Magic Mirror

You said you despised me

I was the wind that always blew your candles out

Tummy large like the circle of people I've disappointed

Chin sagged from the erosion of my sobs

I was the creature under your bed

That directed your worst nightmares

Yet I look back now in that mirror

Reflection rippling like ransacked water

You thought I was growling

Oh how naive looking for aggression in your greatest friend

Would you still believe I deserve death knowing what I've done?

I've made our dreams possible.

Then a few more years after

I'll tell you I've walked among them

I now revisit that tear-made mirror

To reflect a soft smile

Magic Mirror,

Why was I ever worried?
