The Day My Earth Stood Still
Today, the earth still spun and sun did rise;
The creeks still flow down from the mountain top.
The flowers bloomed and the sparrow still flies,
But still, to me, it seems it all has stopped.
The sun, instead of setting as it does
Collapsed upon itself and dimmed its shine:
A supernova, blinding as it was,
Left cold my world, as he left life behind.
Because the beating of his heart did cease,
(Although no tides did stop their ebb and flow)
His time had come and Death did call his lease
And Time persists, as if it does not know.
But still, despite its continuity,
The universe is changed entirely.
