Metamorphosis

Tue, 12/15/2015 - 12:46 -- 063304

I used to be made of the leftover sand that spilled out of the sandbox

And the creaking noise the swings made when you jumped on.

I used to be made of the crusty Playdough that stuck to your fingers

and the melted crayon stains on your shirt.

I used to be made of worn out stuffed animals

and children's movies that were watched way too many times.

Now I am made of occasionally used textbooks

and pencils that always disappear.

Now I am made of old t shirts

and tennis shoes that have been worn down to the bottom.

Now I am made of sweat stains from yesterday's workout

and tear stains on crumpled papers.
