The Heart Thief

He stole through my window
In the depths of the night

He spoke soft words, empty and meaningless
I thought I heard chimes tinkling in the wind

The air chilled as he whispered in my ears
The darkness surrounded me

I reached out and grasped his lapel
The brim of his hat grazed my face

Eyes looked into mine, empty and hollow
I was comforted in the sight, my fear strangely missing

How can he be so hypnotic?
Where is this handsome yet haunting figure from?

Will I ever breathe again?

My heart is still
I feel my breast my lungs are empty

The pain clasps my throat
My eyes darken

Then I feel him moving away
My heart stolen
