The Dragon's Wings
The Dragon’s Wings
Fantasy within, reality without,
Wings down, curtains up,
Straight face, hiding the goofy smile,
Professional by day, amateur at night,
Writer in both; the weaver of fate,
With wings drawn up tight,
To hide the scales and scars,
Never mind the mask,
No, don’t take it away!
Mine to keep, my right to hide,
From the cacophony, from the noise
So just let this one slide,
Just let me slink,
Behind my curtain of wings,
That lays in my dreams,
My protection, my comfort,
Only to slip, only to fall,
When I need it most of all.
