The Raven

Far beyond the evergreen tree
Does the raven fly.
High above the mountains tall
Where his harbors lie.

He knows no trouble nor pain
Nor the labors of human skin,
Merely a vessel of human soul;
Absolution from all sin.

He spreads his wings, conquers flight,
Absorbs life and inhales; release.
He knows naught else but to soar
As far as the eye can see.

Far beyond the evergreen tree
Does the raven fly.
High above the mountains tall
And the rivers wide.

High into the open air,
Glory - a breath of flight!
As he becomes one with the sky,
Gasps of awe become delight.

Freedom of flight is freedom from
Everything earth and bound.
Only when all other faculties are lost
Can liberation be found.

Loneliness ne’er follows,
Several nests lay along his trail.
Never long does he linger
For onward he must sail.

Far beyond the evergreen tree
Does the raven fly.
As long as he has wings to soar,
He will never die.
