Born Uncivil

Location

A young child was I, innocent and free,

with my best of firends a boy named jack.

we were young and like all, carefree

only one difference he was black.

At the local corrnerstore we were the same,

until the police said to him please aside.

It was then that i crawled with shame

for all i could do was stand and abide.

We were both innocent but now i only free,

I could do nothing for his rights

but stand there and be

watching the fading blue and red lights.

So the same yet different , me and Jack

i was free, and he was black.
