I don't miss you

Location

He crushed the butt of his cigarette into the rusted tray,

A valley of forgotten grey.

After flexing his filthy fingers, his gaze sharply drove into me.

I lost my breath.

"Don't you start with that shit again, you hear me?"

I looked down at the ground, composure slipping through my fingers.

There was the crisp wave of a new bottle of beer coming to life.

The infinite gargle of urine-colored liquid wheat rushing down his throat.

Like white-water rapids.

"Do you know what it's like, to die, Annet? Do you know?"

He rose, and a shudder ran through my spine.

No.

"Of course you don't, you stupid kid," he spat at me.

I wish I was away,

I wish I was anywhere but here.

"You look at me when I'm talkin' to you!"

My chin jutted up, pain rising through my neck.

God, take me away from here.

"Do you know what it's like to live?"

He had yellow eyes, burnt out like the beer kicking the shit out of his liver after bottles and bottles.

You see, one isn't so bad, but it's the fuckload of them that brings the hurt.

I was I was anywhere but here.

"To live, Annet?" He stupidly grinned at me, but bitter hatred was engraved into his irises.

I felt like I was going to throw up, the stench of alcohol, cigarettes, and stomach acid seeping into my pores.

You see, it's the fuckload that brings the hurt.

"I'm going to show you how to live!"

The bottle cracked it was held above me pain shot through my rib cages I wish it was all over I wish I was anywhere but here

I woke up with tears streaming down my face. I breathed greyness. A forgotten grey.
