Freedom
A black man's word,
tied to a phrase that is racially slurred.
Stolen by those who call him nigger,
who stand over him with their hand on the trigger.
Alls my life I has to fight...
Alls my life I...
been a modern slave with my chains decorated red, white, and blue.
“An invisible black man”,
through and through.
Yet, my skin offends many;
Daddy left me – I didn’t know what a man’s love was supposed to look like.
His words were warmth to my cold heart
They picked me up and carried me away from loneliness.
“Trust me.”
