They continued to struggle
Living in the cracks
With the problems they juggled
Because they are black
But then they came out
Play that trumpet all night long
Move those hips side to side
Let them black bodies swing with glee
It's Jazz
Sway your body to and fro
Let your body move itself
Throw back your head and let out a yelp.
I see a black man singing in the Lexicon Lounge, Proudly. Instead of humming the toon of 'This Little Light of Mine". Under the upper hand of his white master. I see him performing to a crowd of his peers, his people.
