I was taught how to love but not how to stop. I was taught how to dream but only round the clock.  I was taught how to eat but not how to be petite.  I was taught manners but not the standards.
I have been taught To dream, But not in excess, To hope, But not so much, To fight, But not too hard, Because maybe, I will find The backbone  to burst out
We all want to be loved, In this judgemental world. "Accept me for who I am!" Says the judgemental girl. We all point fingers At who or what needs to change. "No one will love you like that!"
To take to their waters, Their minds they leave too veiled. They seek to be caged in their own tales. To fear for their daughters, And yet they pushed them free. Lives left to life’s great sea.
