As their shouts and screams persist we walk
Walk for a better education
Walk for a better tomorrow
Walk to show no man nor machine shall instill fear

Negro!
Dirty Negro, were some of the words that I heard.
The things they said to me were absurd!
Spitting, Shouting, and Screaming encompassed me.
I tried so hard not to let their threats bother me.
Dear Ms. Eckford
I loved your dress.
Your hair was fly.
Your shades were classy.
Your walk was fierce.
Dear Ms. Eckford
Were you scared?
Was it like a nightmare?
Did you cry?
