I played outside
Sifted through the sand
The trees were my friends, my enimes and my mentors
I spent time in forts
On islands I created
I was the ruler of my own world
Music was my soul.
Music showed me how
to “carry on,
let the good times roll.”
It helped me
“let my path unfold.”
You cannot change the world if you always stay the same
People won't like it but you cannot seem to explain
You chose a new lane and now you feel sane
Always told how to act.
Always told how to think.
Always told how to feel.
Always told who to be.
A time of independence
Brought learning,
Long did I wander in mountains of green
Around me was nothing of man to be seen.
My friends and I walked across mountains so high
It seemed we could reach up to touch the blue sky.
No longer a boy, I walked as a man
I'm grown-up now (I guess)
I have to watch TV with subtitles
Sometimes I have to nap or I'll be cranky
I finally understand how the government works (I think?)
People refer to me as "ma'am"
I once was a child, young and care-free,
I acted as a child, “Mom, I found a dollar!”
I played as a child, “I want to play the teacher!”
I thought as a child, “I cannot wait to grow up!”
One day it hit me,
