Why I write Poetry

It started with that movie.
That one with Morgan Freeman.
As the opening credits rolled in,
that voice came into my ears.
Like soft grating gravel.
Invictus.
Poetry can be an expression,
or it could be a confession.
Maybe of serious depression,
or maybe about the recession.
Are they really poetry,
these words that I write?
Is it really poetry,
I write poetry, because it helps me vent
I hate stressin’ so that heart attack is what Im tryna prevent
Lemme take you into my world
The pain in the pit of my stomach just might make you hurl
What do words mean to you?
Do you listen to them in your head?
Does it really mean that the sky is blue?
Or does it mean sad thoughts are in your head?
Life isn't easy
Can be very frustrating
To escape the world
I write my thoughts
Others don't want to hear me rant
About silly unimportant things;
Yet, they're not unimportant to me.
