Extraordinary
Picture a first generation girl.
Her parents, never finished high school.
Her older brother, spent the first 8 years of his life without seeing his father
Dreams sparked in thoughts
For money beyond,
For love and respect and freedom,
For bright musical schools,
Dreams dropped in two dollar days,
In dark "school" hallways,
How the world has changed
From the land, my family came to.
My great grandparents came here from Europe
To Ellis Island, they came.
It didn't matter if they were Irish or Italian.

After mass in our language
