Greet the Day Slam

It writhes with a cry, from the womb
Emerges pale, pink-skinned, dirty lips
And eyes too large to balance its frame
Yet cradled in gentle caresses, lullabies
I watch from afar, my mind half numb
The day begins and my eyes shine
I see sunlight coming through my blinds
A familiar face appears in my head
And makes me get up and out of bed
He is telling me to change and put on my shoes
It’s a New Day!
There are times, they say
That days go on and on, without end
To the displeasure of many
We see them come and go, as they please, without worry
