You're one of my girls, Cinderella

Everyone knows how Cinderella goes:

Her mother dies, her father remarries;

Her father then dies and she is left on her own.

She is alone with her horrible step mother and step siblings.

In Disney's remake, she has a happy ending,

In Grimm's Fairy Tales, it's a whole 'nother story.

Either way, I have a question,

Disney, how does this tale take place from the step mother's perspective?

Cinderella, it's time that you know,

Why it is that I'm not so coy.

I married your father who was looking for a mother,

And lo and behold he found one!

It's true that I had two daughters of my own,

But what you didn't know was that my first husband had died a time ago.

Your step sisters did not like your father,

And they hated the fact that you treated me like your own mother.

What a sweet girl you were and are,

But I still had my two girls to take care of.

You helped out with the chores around the house,

Secretly, causing me to love you more than you loved that strange mouse.

When you're father passed away,

I lost all my senses;

And I forgot that you were more than just some scullery maid.

I admit I was cruel, but then I discovered something new,

I discovered that I terribly loved you.

You had your father's eyes,

And you were very efficient with your time.

I once had thought that if I could marry off my own daughters first,

Then marrying you off wouldn't as badly hurt.

But now you're gone;

Flown the coop like a dove.

And now that the deed is officially done,

I send you my regards with all my love.
