In Your Well

You promised me love

But put me in a well instead.

I thought I was special.

Special enough to keep hidden

In your well,

While you lived out your love

For another,

I stayed in love with your ghost (a spell?).

You fed me dreams and hopes

Three times a day,

And three times a day you did like me.

And it felt great to be given

the time of day.

You inspired me greatly,

Rejuvenated my river's flow.

You were magical indeed

How I'll miss the way

you helped things grow.

Even though you weren't real,

And as difficult as my sadness has been to expel,

I won't forget the dreams and adventures

you gave me in your well.
