your town is full of losers

There will always be songs

That remind me of you

Especially the ones you’ve written

But we’ll leave those for you.

I feel that you’re lonely

I find it in myself

This pressure they pour

Well it doesn’t fill us up

There’s many roads to revisit

But trot them carefully

Look low for your trail of crumbs

Step over the stones gently

Don’t get lost in the flood of memory.

You left a woman waiting

In neon reflected parking lots

She’s made of tear stained glass

And she speaks only in the past

She claims if they take the backstreets

They’ll find you hiding, running

But no matter how hard you try

Your life will never be Springsteen’s.

The role of victim is sweeter than victor.

The taste of anger is better than vinegar

But there’s still a bitter taste

There’s so much time to waste

And that’s exactly what I plan to do

Just sit and wait, make do

The guiding lights still twinkle bright

Maybe they’ll lead me back to you

Or maybe they’ll take me to start anew.

You hold the switch

Just please

Stop flickering it.
