Your Old Home

Ilya Prints

One cannot step twice in the same river,

You can't come back past, in your home!

You can’t go home again,

Your door no longer exists,

Old home has gone in time,

Survived, even, - closed by mist.

You cannot return to old dreams,

            Unfulfilled and broken words.

            You live in another stream,

            Your life is another world.

But…you should visit home again,

To touch roots where you were raised,

To breathe air that you once lived,

To see tracks on which you had raced...     Alas,

            You can’t go home again,

The time had erased your old shack,

One can’t live with head turned back -

                        Your garden awaits you ahead!
