You Come to Me

You come to me when

I’m on top of the world

You come carrying songs for the elite

For the elegant and strong

You come to me when

No one else will

When I feel so insignificant that it’s hard to carry on

You numb the pain with soft kisses

And sweet caresses

You come to me when

I feel like commanding strings of metal

To bend and quiver at my will

And sing stories of love and war

You come and take me somewhere

To another part of the world

And together we witness their culture

And dance into the night

You come to me

Late at night

And whisper words of inspiration

And make my fingers dance across the keyboard

You come when you need me

Begging to be heard

To wail out your pain

With words that pierce my soul

And sorrows that prick my skin

You come to me

And we both cry

Both of the good times

And the bad

And the downright ugly

You come to me when

I am broken

I am overjoyed

I am hurt

Whenever I need you

So thank you music

For always being there
