You Can't Tame the Flames

You said you could never love my free spirit

And I can’t be with someone unwilling to grow and prosper with me

You said this is it

I said is this how it’s going to be?

You told me that love could conquer all

Tell me why then did you let me fall?

You said you could never love my free spirit

And I’d be a fool to ever let anyone tame it

No point in trying to smother the flames my dearest

The fire within me, you could never contain it

Because I love myself

I know we are better off apart

Because I love you

I'll let you keep that piece of my heart

And when I learn to love another again

I'll look back on this relationship as a lesson

It won't be a matter of if, but when

I'll find a love that I won't have to question
