You are enough

Whenever I tell anyone that I want to major in theater their face of interest changes to a face of disbelief then a question always follows that is usually along the lines of "do you think you'll even make it?"

The thing is that many people think you can't be successful in life when you choose a path like theater. They all think of cameras, red carpets and big TV stars. They believe you must apply yourself to a degree like business or marketing but what's the point if I'm unhappy?

I was more than happy at theater camp. I became another version on myself that radiated positivity and joy. It gave me such a pleasure working with others who loved the same craft I did. It was such a feeling of euphoria.

One of our instructors was encouraging us not to give up and then she said that we were enough. That we didn't have to pretend to be something that we're not, and I remember feeling so inspired. Every doubt I had felt was lifted. The feeling of ecstasy manifested through my body. I had never felt so encouraged to follow my dreams. What once felt so ungraspable suddenly felt in reach, and if there was anything that I took from camp was that I was enough and I will forever keep that close to my heart.
