to you
this is a letter to you from me,
you might not care for it right now,
but in the end, the things that i wrote will be things you’ll agree.
you can flip through magazines
and find girls with the shiniest of hair, and hips
that fit like a glove on every seam of their jeans
you can look through the class’s test results
and discover others so smart
you’re so dumb, you say, adding self-insults
but break through the mirror
so you'll resee your smile, so bright and wide,
radiating up through the atmosphere.
focus on that, and your flaws will hide.
