For You

When I wrote this…

I believed something was amiss;

No matter how long or hard

I wrote and thought and revised

The words felt empty,

Worn and imprecise.

It’s not as simple as

“Happy Birthday, Mom!”

You deserve words that are Special—

Hand-crafted and heart-warming

You give me so much more

Than what words could ever express.

You care about who I am;

About who I can be.

So I’d rather say something

Than nothing at all.

There is no better time than the present

No better words to say

“I love you, Mom.”

Always and Forever and Everyday
