The Years Leading Up to You
My childhood was carefree and full of life.
I was always running around with my cousins
and playing with my brother.
I was close to my big family
and still had my grandma and grandpa around.
My middle school years were lonely.
I always had trouble making friends and was always alone.
I had a hard time adapting and what
made it harder was when my grandma got cancer.
She died when I was fourteen and everything fell apart.
But then I met you.
My high school years were much better.
I was still struggling with the loss of my grandma
and the fact that my grandpa had a stroke a few years later,
but I had you there for me and I no longer felt alone.
I was able to get through it with your help
and I am so grateful for you.
My senior year had a rough start, but I'll be okay.
You and I are no longer together.
I have changed so much throughout my life, but
I've changed so much more in the last year.
Even though i was hurt and alone again,
I became stronger than ever and
am now ready for more years to come.
Who knows what my future will bring.
I am still young and have so much potential.
I've gone through some painful experiences, but
I still have cheerful memories that i will cherish forever.
Now all I must do is keep moving forward.
