The World We Once Knew

It does not mean what it meant before,

the stars and the stripes are no more.

They tell us what to think.

They tell us what to do.

The time has come to rise up through,

the ashes that burnt our old world to the ground.

We were told that we've always been safe and sound.

Don't tell me again to vote on T.V.

We already know campaign 3018.

The outcome is set.

The winner is chosen.

We have no voice.

In time we're frozen.

We sit all day and sleep all night,

with cold stony eyes,

that never are bright.

The T.V. is always on,

with all the stars.

To tell us our schedule,

or to send us to mars.

They hear every word.

They see every slight,

move of the face,

when muscles are tight.

They'll throw you in prison.

Then fix you on up.

You won't be there long.

Your genetics aren't tough,

to change and alter,

to make right again.

Now society's ready to let you on in.
