Working Class Missouri

Air hot like an oven-

a sticky kind of hot.

The terms "humid" and "muggy"

to be used liberally

  for the entire season.

The summer marked by

bags of Spitz and glasses of tea.

Barbecues in the backyard

  (or the driveway)

  with all the poeple

you didn't get to see last Winter.

Fourth and fifth cousins are scattered, just like the

cans of Busch

that are set to litter the living room furniture

regardless of what happens.
