The part of me I need most

It’s the wonder I see

In the world each day

The beauty I find in everything

 

I see it each sunrise,

Each dawn and each dusk

In the glow of the moon 

And brilliance of the stars

 

I hear it in the rustling of trees

Through the sound of birdsongs

In the crash of waves

and the silence of night

 

I feel it in every touch

Every hand that is held

In the warm caress of sunlight

and the softness of the wind

 

I taste it in family recipes

Each breath of clean air

In freshly fallen snow

and drops of falling rain

 

I can smell it in the grass

Every flower that blooms

In the earth after rain

and the salty sea air

 

It’s the wonderment I feel

The beauty I find 

In each sense

The part of myself I couldn’t live without
