Women
Women.
All thoughout history we have faced many things.
You'd think that now, as we have advanced,
So would our way of thinking.
But this is not so.
Unfortunately, we are still criticized.
Women.
We are put on magazine covers, with out faces altered.
Our freckles,
Stomachs,
Stretchmarks,
All gone.
Women.
We are taught that we must look a certain way.
Our minds are taught to think that our bodies belong to the men of society who can not seem to accept,
Our natural state.
We grow up with stereotypes embedded in our heads.
Small waist,
Size two,
Lose weight,
All so that he will like you.
We are taught to objectify ourselves.
But women,
Are strong.
They are worth so much more than the marks on their bodies,
Than the numbers on the scales,
Than the number on our jeans.
Women,
Do not live to please society.
They do not need to all look the same.
Women
Come in all shapes, sizes, and colors,
And they are still
Women.
And they are still
Beautiful.
And they are still human.
I have learned not to let others control my body.
I have learned that my body is my body.
I have learned that my body was not just made to please others.
It was made to pump blood, and keep me alive.
I have learned that I am worth so much more than my body.
And that all of these materialistic things,
And that all of these beauty standards,
They do not mean a thing.
My body does not define me.
And others opinions about my body do not define me.
What defines me is my character,
And my heart, and soul.
And I wish that all
Women,
Would realize the same.
