Why I write?
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs,
poems allow connection to my own self
to level up the pyramid.
Dear God,
Alice Walker’s Celie,
Writing poetry is a crutch
that supports my self-esteem;
to stay optimistic.
Without it my soul would deteriorate.
It creates an illusion that someone is listening,
in hopes that someone will once they get the chances to read my writing,
and that someone is going through my hardship.
