Why I Write
Location
"Why I Write..."
Three simple words
forming one little question,
Why do I write?
Is it because I aspire
to be one of the poets that
participate in Poetry Slams?
Is it due to the fact
that I need an artistic medium
to express my emotions?
Maybe, a better question would be,
"Why do we breathe?"
It keeps us alive, surely,
but is that the only reason?
To hear the simple intake of breathe
and exhale of air
is similar to the flow of poetry.
The up and downwards motion of my chest
reminds me of the words that are written
on lines of paper
or spoken in front of a mirror
or simply thought up in one's own mind.
"Why I write" is as easy to answer
as the question "Why do we live?"
The answer can be complex
and not limited to one reason,
but can be simply summed up in three to four little words...
Because I want to.
Because I do.
I write because I love it.
I live because it makes me feel something
ranging from giddy to meloncholy.
To write is to be alive.
And without it, I would suffer.
