Why I Write

Mon, 06/10/2013 - 02:50 -- kamrynk

I write to rid
the roof of my mouth
from words stuck
thick in my throat
stealing my breath
suffocating any sane thoughts
I might have left

to break the chains
around my heart
allowing blood
to pump in place
of unrequited love
tainting my veins
and filling my head
with hate

I write to let her know
she's the smile
on my lips and in my eyes
proving perfection in humans
does exist
if you look hard enough
and never give up

to give those
who haven't found a voice
a way to sing
where no radio can
repeat it to the point
of losing it's reason

I write to give the world
a piece of me
one word at a time
until I am free
