Why Her?

Her arms and legs are thin
as they shake back and forth
Her body has been broken
and her state of mind has
been diminished into an
incapable being.
One so alone
Like the child
who was not
given an answer
when they called
their mother's name
It is hard to imagine
a life so far from being
okay as the one in which
she lives on a daily basis.
How can they not help her
as she shakes, as her pain
is so undeniably present
within every layer of her
skin you can see the
bruises and the
operations that
have taken
place
And you
ask yourself
Why her?
