Why?

Sadness and pain are everywhere
Every place you look
Even in escape, you find it there
Even within a book

You try so hard and wonder why
Nothing seems to change
Darkness clouds even the sky
And somehow we find it strange

That no one moves or tries to fix
The dire positions around
We think the answer is a magic trick
Happiness to be found

So we choose to question, asking God why
Why things never work out?
Why is it that the helpless still cry
No matter how loud we shout?

One day I asked the very same thing
Why God did nothing to fix it
Why relief he was something did not bring
Why He was never to quell it

Why has the suffering through the world torn
Why didn't He stop the sorrow
Why was it that young children, barely born
Have no hope for tomorrow

Then from above, God leaned down his head
Bent with a listening ear
And with a deep voice, strong as thunder he said
Isn't that why I sent YOU here?
