Who could love
The hardened criminal
That's got a rap sheet
The length of a lecture
About dumb mistakes
Politicians have made?
When he goes around
Ruining families,
Ending lives,
And forcing police officers to
Tell kids that their daddy won't
Be coming home.
Who could love
the police officer
That tells a family that their daughter
Is in the hospital
Because some guy
Looked at her with pure hunger
In his eyes and took
Advantage of their loving
teenage daughter.
Who could love
The teenage girl
That's spent all of her life believing
The lies told to her
By some tool that just wanted
Her body.
The girl that believed that she was
Ugly and prude
And was going to die alone.
Who could love
The woman
Who grew up believing
Similar lies
And was so desperate to feel wanted that she gave away
Her body to the first officer
In a uniform that accepted
Her when she had a seven year old child.
Who could love
The abusive cop
That beat the mother
Into a state of emotional vacancy
So much so
That she totally neglected her son
All of his life.
The cop that beats and rapes his mother and then had the gall
To tell him, your mothers a slut,
She has sex with anyone
That walks through that door
She had an abortion
She killed my child,
Right before she tried to abort you.
All of your life was one big mistake
Who could love
The boy
That believed that his life was a mistake,
That went through life thinking
He was a burden.
Who wasn't helped by an abusive father, a neglecting mother,
And an adolescence taking pills.
Who relied on alcohol
And drugs
And sex
To numb the pain
That he felt in his brain
Every time someone said I love you
Who could love
The boy
So broken that
He thinks that no one would
Want to fix him
Ever in his whole life.
That thinks that he is a burden to everyone and that they would
All be better off if he would just die.
Who could love
The boy
That was so depressed all of his life
That he tried
To end his life 7 times
What I'm trying to ask is,
Who could love
Me?
