Who Am I

So recently we had to do an assignment.

Create a box with three items;

One for your past, for your present and for your future.

But I am so much more than these three items.

Yes, my past is filled with ideas and plans,

But it's also filled with the tears of loss,

The shame of failure,

The joy of success,

The drawing together of family,

And so much more.

Yes, my present may be all about color guard,

Bur sometimes it's about work,

Or sometimes it's focused on school,

And sometimes, it's silent tears that I try to hide,

There just because of the person I am.

My future may be all about special education,

And learning how to teach

But I hope that it also holds love and joy and hope and inspiration and pride.

I am more than three items put into a box.

I am a swirling complexity of life,

Also known as a human being.
