Where is the light?

Sat, 11/29/2014 - 18:28 -- Meg2222

Pay no attention to the tears streaming down her face

Pay no attention to the girl running instead of eating

Society has a light

But the light is attracted to the plastic lies

Cowering from the truth

We cross all boundaries

To forge the lies

To find the light

I plead with you to notice-

The girl with the $100 brand name coat

The girl with the most expensive make-up

The girl straightening her hair each day

Because the light is what I want, it is what I need

I care more of you think

Than of who I truly am

The light shows me what is good

So I must be bad

I will keep changing for you

Until the light finds me

I am covered in plastic

I am covered in lies

But my legs are fragile

And my head is weak

So where is the light?

I thought it would come

I’ve done all it has asked

My hair is dyed

My stomach is empty

My blemishes are covered

My skin is tan

I’ve been taught that is what is important

I’ve been taught that is what I need

So where is the light?

These shadows are whispering

They say it’s not too late

“Crawl out from the cave.”

“But the cave is all I know.”

“Crawl out from your cave.”

“Where will I go?”

“Crawl out from your cave, then you will know.”

Eat what you want and do what you want

Be who you are and see the truth

You have been staring into the light for too long

It has blinded you.

Look away from the false light

It has guided you astray

Be who you are and do what you like

For there you will find the light

The light that you can look at

And still be able to see
