We stood up for civil rights.
We sat in for a cause.
The arsons no longer burn.
And what did we earn?

African-Americans in politics
Blacks in science
Negroes in education
Is it enough?

Emmet Till,
Trayvon Martin,
Nooses, guns;
Do we stay, or run?

Look inside the package.
The exterior is temporary;
The interior is eternal.
Do they see that?

It is our Manifest Destiny
To step into true freedom,
After the feet stop marching,
After the protesters stop demonstrating,
After the smoke clears,
Where do we go from here?

To dock on the shores of equality,
And forge a path of peace.

A new life,
Free to walk without fear;
Equal beings, not inferiors.
Peaceful brotherhood, worldwide.

A world where Black is respected.
A place where Latino is welcomed.
A land where White is loved.
An Earth where color does not exist.

Labels belong on files.
Names are government recognized.
Pride clothes us.
Love binds us.

Are we there yet? No.
Can we get there? Yes.
When will we get there? Soon.
How will we get there? You decide.

Who will lead us?
The president?
God?
You? Us.
