When Hope Runs Out

Like a rushing river,

School crashes into life

Gradually wearing life down.

Like a tsunami,

Grades overwhelm and destroy

Consuming every fiber.

I thought that hope was found in the water-

That it strengthened me,

But instead I grew weaker,

Unable to thrive in the desert heat.

When hope runs out, it leaves you dry.

It drops you down when you're feeling fly.

Where is my purpose now

Since the annulment of my Christian vow?
