Day by Day
I look upon a street
Watching and listening
As kids are dancing to the beats

You know what else I see
I see the past
With all the vision and dreams
That has come to be from a time
When blacks and whites argued to no degree

Until people started screaming, “I have a Dream”
Is when the pain and suffering
Started to deplete since
Everybody cried for Equality

I now see kids of all color out playing
While, their parents; black and white
Are just outside, joking, smoking, partying,
And just waving

I see the past, with all our heroes
Chatting and preaching about all the sorrow
It is to them I make this vow

To respect all my brother
Even when blood is shed
Cause we finally found peace
Without feeling dead

For they are the kings of our rights
Rosa, Malcolm, and Luther
Had just finished their fights
It is to them we will forever owe
All of our civil rights

Because if it was not for them
We will be lost in the violent night
Instead our future now shines
In God’s divine light
