What I Promise You

I know.

I throw around my

“I love you”’s

and “Forever”’s

Like powdered sugar

I’m sloppy, and

I know that I can’t Really promise those things.

And so here’s what I do promise.

I promise,

that no matter where we go down this road,

whether it forks us away from each other,

or we continue to spiral inward

until we are one,

That I will do everything in my power

To make you happy

Even if you stop deserving it.

Do you remember the first time we fell in love?

It swallowed me whole

you swept me up like a whirlwind

You blew my mind. And

I swear i will never stop thanking you for that.

I promise,

that as long as you love me

I will drop everything

to kiss you good morning.

Because you’ve earned that much,

At the very least.

Do you know the second time you stole my heart?

I didn’t know what was happening,

But I had the best deja vu,

I started digging for answers

as deep as the grand canyon

I promise,

that I will never Hit you,

that hard,

on purpose.

Even if for some reason

You do deserve it.

And I can’t get out,

And I don’t ever want to,

I could be happy falling for you for the rest of my life

over and over again,

like skydiving with no ground to hit.

I promise to laugh when you cry,

until I join you.

I promise to hold you when you hurt,

until the pain subsides.

I promise to be yours,

until you don’t want me.

You are the butterflies in my stomach

You are the only reason I’ve ever cried for joy

I have this theory that you’re a magician. But it must be wrong,

See You’re always trying to keep up with my heart beat

and it’s just not a fair race.

I want to grow young with you,

and then older, and Then old.

I want our life together to be a sequence of love letters

minus the shipping.

I think that the dandelions must know all of our secrets.

I promise to love you as long as I can,

Because you deserve it.

I promise that I will not leave your side,

Because you deserve it.

I promise to treat you right,

Because you deserve it.

I promise to be your confidant

Team mate

Defender

Your best friend

Your wife.

I promise to protect you,

I promise to cherish you always,

I promise even if it kills me.

I am promising you my heart.

Because you deserve it.
