What I Need is Meaning

What I need is meaning,

on an island or in a meeting.

The purpose behind my actions,

guides my movements and reactions.

Without appreciation or audience,

if I’m honest, my motives melt into intolerance.

Who cleans when no one is visiting?

Who feels guilt when no one is witnessing?

No, what I need to survive,

is the pressure to get by.

The accountability brought about by

the engagements I abide.

On an island I could meditate,

and the gods I could venerate.

On an iceland I could alienate,

my old friends and liberate.

But If it all felt pointless,

I would be left weightless.
