What E’er thou art, Act well thy part

He had it on his desk,

A light in the dark.

“What E’er thou art, Act well thy part”.

One of the best men I've ever known,
In a moment of inspiration,

Used this poem as a guide,

To help me out of frustration.

For you see, to act well my part… seemed difficult from the start.

While trying and complying,

I lost my way.

All that time struggling and juggling,

Only led me to dismay.

But those words, short and sweet,

Awakened in me a truth.

Often times my best is good enough,

Who am I to disapprove?

From that moment on it all seemed clear,

I’ll just work, give my all, and try not to fear.

My best is my best, it's what I can provide.

And I know in the end, I’ll be satisfied.

So if you find yourself wondering,

Do I act well my part?

Your best is enough,

No matter who you are.
